On Sunday, 41 girls from the school travelled to Victoria for the 1998 Run For The Cure -- a fundraiser for research into breast cancer.

Esther Shoop, Petra Juzwishin, and Niamh Murphy (shown left to right) were the prime motivators for the event. The girls' efforts raised over $1,000 for the campaign.

On Friday and Saturday last, the senior girl's field hockey team competed in the Bridgman Cup tournament, sponsored by, and held at, the University of Victoria. The team finished in 10th position, posting two wins and three losses over the two days. The Captain of the team for the 1998-99 season is Rebecca Kinkead, Vice Captain: Lauren Brown. The team has fixtures in Courtenay and Comox on Tuesday of this week (6th October). Brentwood will be hosting the ISA Senior Field Hockey Tournament on Saturday 17th October.

The senior girl's volleyball team competed in the ISA Championships at St. Michaels School in Victoria. After finishing second in their round robin pool they defeated York House in the final to win the Championship. Veronica Voracek, the Brentwood co-captain, received the MVP of the tournament award, and Jodie Norris (our other co-captain) and Terra Jong were selected to the All-Star team. The key volleyball fixture this week is a visit to Shawnigan Lake School on Thursday evening. Buses for spectators will leave the school at 8:45 pm after prep -- game time is 9:00 pm.
